About our services
The Canadian Centre for Housing Rights (CCHR) provides free, individualized services to renters in Ontario who are facing challenges in their housing. While we are unable to offer in-person legal support, our team is happy to assist you by phone or email.
Information and Referrals
Our caseworkers work to empower renters by:
- Providing legal information and resources – including self-advocacy guides – to help them address discrimination in their home.
- Providing referrals to other services that may be available to help them.

Legal Services
Our lawyers provide legal advice and/or representation for renters in Toronto and York Region who need support with:
- No-fault evictions
- Above-guideline rent increases
- Housing maintenance applications
- Multi-tenant housing (rooming houses)

Please note: CCHR cannot assist tenants with all of their housing-related complaints, such as issues with their neighbours, the Landlord and Tenant Board, or in non-rental housing.
